A punto de cumplir los 64 arranco por primera vez con un blog, con este blog. No quiero mirar hacia atrás y tratar de recordar hechos pasados para contar aquí y ahora, que los hubo y muchos. Prefiero mirar el hoy, el presente y narrar hechos que yo considere relevantes dentro del oficio. Basta con saber que nací en Lisboa y que me crie en Galicia.

Me considero un pensador y un creador que pone en practica sus ideas. Me gusta la alquimia. Experimentar con cosas nuevas para mi. Ahondar en la materia y aprender sobre todo.

Me gustaría contar en este blog mi participación en diferentes eventos artísticos, como: Concursos de pintura rápida, concursos de pintura seca, exposiciones, talleres y otros temas relacionados con el oficio.

De un tiempo a esta parte me aficioné a participar en concursos, tanto de rápida como de seca porque considero que ambos son una escuela, un aprendizaje y una guía turística, especialmente los de pintura rápida. Por suerte para nosotros España está salpicada de concursos.

Al principio me movía en un radio de 400 km pero últimamente solo voy a los más cercanos. A medida que va uno consiguiendo objetivos que me marqué en los comienzos, la burbuja se va desinflando y pasamos a otra cosa nueva, un nuevo objetivo, un nuevo reto a batir, ese es mi modus operandi, aunque me siguen gustando los concursos.

A día de hoy 13 de mayo, a cinco días del día Internacional de los museos y de mi cumpleaños, estoy esperando como agua de mayo por el primer concurso de la temporada que supuestamente era el concurso Chicho Solveira de Sabaris (Baiona), pero acabo de enterarme por el compañero y artista Jose Miranda que se aplaza para más adelante, por lo que el próximo en la lista es el III Concurso de Pintura Rápida 'Pintando a Palacios' – O Porriño (Pontevedra) Sábado 13 de Junio. Participé en la primera edición y el año pasado por esas fechas estaban operándome de páncreas, mejor dicho, ya estaba operado y convaleciente y demás complicaciones, por lo que no pude participar. Este año si todo va bien, estaremos allí nuevamente y aquí también para contaros como se desarrolló el evento.

Quick painting competitions

About to turn 64, I'm starting my first blog, this blog. I don't want to look back and try to recall past events to recount here and now—and there were many. I prefer to focus on today, the present, and narrate events that I consider relevant to my craft. Suffice it to say that I was born in Lisbon and raised in Galicia.

I consider myself a thinker and a creator who puts his ideas into practice. I enjoy alchemy. Experimenting with things that are new to me. Delving into the subject and learning above all.

On this blog, I'd like to share my participation in various artistic events, such as: plein air painting competitions, dry painting competitions, exhibitions, workshops, and other topics related to my craft.

Lately, I've become fond of participating in competitions, both plein air and dry painting, because I consider them both a school, a learning experience, and a tourist guide, especially plein air painting competitions. Luckily for us, Spain is dotted with competitions.

At first, I traveled within a 400 km radius, but lately I only go to the closest places. As I achieve the goals I set for myself at the beginning, the bubble deflates and I move on to something new, a new objective, a new challenge to overcome. That's my modus operandi, although I still enjoy competitions.

As of today, May 13th, five days before International Museum Day and my birthday, I'm eagerly awaiting the first competition of the season, which was supposed to be the Chicho Solveira Competition in Sabaris (Baiona). However, I just learned from my colleague and fellow artist Jose Miranda that it's been postponed. So, next on the list is the 3rd Quick Painting Competition 'Pintando a Palacios' – O Porriño (Pontevedra) on Saturday, June 13th. I participated in the first edition, and last year around this time I was having pancreatic surgery—or rather, I'd already had the surgery and was recovering from other complications—so I couldn't participate. This year, if all goes well, we'll be there again, and we'll be here too to tell you how the event went.
